CoverFlow

Found a really cool app today thanks to the txd forums, CoverFlow.  It give a new way to browse your music.  Instead of going through a list of names it displays the album covers and lets you flip through them.  When you find the one you feel like listening to hit return and it starts [...]

Broadband Tuner 1.0

Apple released Boradband Tuner 1.0 today.  I just installed it, cable modem connection, and it seems to have helped.  I hit a few of the speed report sites, like DSLReports, before and after installing.  All of them had me at about 2200 kbps before install and 3300 kbps after.  Not to shabby if that increase [...]

Clueless about tech

Gotta love people using technology that they don’t really know how to use.  These are the type of people that’ll be returning their router to CompUSA or BestBuy this week because it doesn’t work and their internet connection is slow.

FYI, the pict is of a cool little widget Air Traffic Control.

New Widgets

Found a couple widgets today that look like they might actually be useful.  When Tiger first launched I found most of the widgets that Apple provides and the 3rd party ones at the time to be fairly useless.  There were a couple semi-useful ones like the Weather and Dictionary widgets, but nothing I need often.  [...]

Mac Intel

Well, the thing I didn’t think would ever happen has happened.  The Mac is moving to Intel chips.  I’m feeling a bit better about it today after the initial shock wore off.  The move will be a good thing for the laptop line.  The pentium m is a nice processor and will really improve the [...]

Computer History

A cool site I came across today is MLAgazine.  It’s supposed to be a history of personal computers and the people who made them, but most of the content is Mac/Apple based.  Lots of cool things to look back on like the Pippen and other forgotten Apples.

Dictionary context

Cool Tiger feature.  Open Dictionary.app and in its prefs set the contextual menu to “Open Dictionary panel”.  Now in any app double click on a word to highlight it.  Bring up the contextual menu and select “Look up in dictionary”.  Very handy to have.   Thanks to Kevin Fyure in the discussion thread for John’s [...]

Library 1.5

Delicious Monster release Library v1.5 today.  It has a couple nice new features like the Spotlight interface and bug fixes.  It still has a lot of deficiencies that make wish I hadn’t bought right away.  They also still haven’t fixed crashers that I reported in 1.1 and earlier.  Simple things like trying to bring up [...]

Tiger Review

Nope, not one from me.  John Siracusa has a long review up at ars.  Be forewarned, it’s long.  Really long.  The PDF is 106 pages.  It has a ton of good info in it.  You just need to learn to skip ahead a bit when John starts in on a pet peeve.
He’s right on most [...]
